Electrical engineering is one of the most popular engineering courses in India and has been one of the major driving forces of high technology over the past few decades. It is rapidly growing not only within core areas such as wireless communications and mobile technologies but also in other areas such as nanotechnology, biotechnology and biomedical engineering. The Department of Electrical Engineering was started from the academic year 2014-2015 at G.H.Raisoni Institute of Engineering and Management.

Electrical engineering is one of the largest and most diverse technological and engineering disciplines in today’s world. It is the study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism for the development and maintenance of electrical and electronics equipments such as electric motors, navigation systems, medical devices, broadcast and communication systems, power generation systems, electrical distribution systems, electric grids etc., while keeping in mind the safety, quality, economic feasibility and sustainability of these products and systems. Not only has it been one of the major driving forces behind cutting edge technology in areas such as power engineering, computer engineering, communications and mobile technologies, it has also significantly impacted several other fields such as nanotechnology, biomedical engineering, neuroscience and biotechnology, to name a few. The students of electrical engineering use science, engineering, technology and analytical reasoning, creative and critical thinking skills to solve problems and design, construct and maintain electrical and electronics products.

Programme Educational Objectives

The Program Educational Objectives of the Electrical Engineering programme are designed to produce competent engineers who are ready to contribute effectively to the advancement of electrical department profession. The graduates shall:

  1. Fulfill the need of society in solving technical problem using engineering fundamentals & principles, tools and practices and conduct research in ethical and responsible manner.
  2. Meet expectations of Industry through lifelong learning in the field of electrical engineering along with multidisciplinary approach.
  3. Develop Leadership skill in workplace and function professionally in a globally competitive world
  4. Encourage renewable energy technology for the sustainable development of the nation

Programme Outcomes

The programme is targeted at developing the following competencies, skills and abilities amongst students. They shall be able to:

  1. Acquire an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, basic sciences and core electrical engineering skills consistent with the defined and applied engineering procedures, processes, systems or methodologies
  2. Identify, formulate, study literature, analyze and Conduct investigations of broadly defined electrical engineering problems. Locate, search and select relevant data from codes, databases and literature, design, conduct experiments, test to provide valid conclusions having appropriate techniques and modern tools.
  3. Demonstrate to design solutions for broadly defined electrical engineering problems and contribute to the design of systems, components or processes to meet specified needs keeping in view public health, safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations
  4. Demonstrate understanding of the health, safety, legal and social issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to electrical engineering / technology practice.
  5. Understand the impact of electrical engineering solutions and demonstrate knowledge of and need for sustainable development having norms of electrical engineering practice/electricity code and code of conduct as defined by recognized body
  6. Function effectively as an individual and as a member or leader of team in diverse technical teams.
  7. Communicate effectively on broadly defined electrical engineering activities with the engineering community, and with society at large, by being able to comprehend and write effective technical reports, design and prepare documentation, make effective presentations and give and receive clear instructions .
  8. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering management principles finance and project management and apply the same to one’s own work and to manage projects in multidisciplinary environments as a member and leader in a team
  9. Recognize the need for, and to engage in, life-long learning in electrical engineering and allied domains to keep pace with rapidly changing technology.
